'Kill' Modi remark: Congress leader Raja Pateriya detained
Bhopal: Police have detained Congress leader and Raja Pateriya over his remarks on PM Narendra Modi which triggered a controversy.
Pateriya was detained from his residence a day after he was booked for allegedly asking people to “kill” Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “save” the Constitution, reports Hindustan Times.
In a video which has gone viral, the Congress leader could be seen addressing a meeting of party workers at Powai town in Panna district where he said: "Modi is going to end the elections. Modi will divide on the basis of religion, caste and language. The future of Dalits, tribals and minorities looks to be in danger. If you really want to save the Constitution, then be ready to kill Modi."
He further explained: "Kill in the sense of defeating him."
An FIR was registered against the Congress veteran on the directions of state home minister Narottam Mishra.
Raja Pateriya later released another video and said his remarks were misinterpreted.
The Congress, however, distanced itself from his remark.
