New Delhi: India on Thursday reacted to a recent airstrike by Myanmar Air Force on a rebel group near its border in Mizoram in the Northeast, calling it a matter of concern.

"On Jan 10, air operations were carried out by the Myanmar Army on the close areas of the Indian borders. We confirmed that there were no violations of our airspace."

"But according to our information, on Jan 10 a bomb was dropped on the Tiau river bed, which lies on the India-Myanmar border, which was in Farkwan village in the Champhai district of Mizoram," said MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi  during the weekly media briefing.

"Such an incident for us is a matter of concern. We have taken up this matter with the Government of Myanmar," he said.

The Myanmar Army recently carried out a major air raid on the camps of rebel organizations on the border with Mizoram, India. Media reports also claimed casualties of some people belonging to the rebel organizations in Myanmar.

Media reports said the aerial strike was carried out on the Victoria Camp of the Chin National Army (CNA) on the instructions of the Junta (military government) of Myanmar.

The Chin National Army, the armed wing of Myanmar's Chin ethnic Chin National Front, has launched an insurgency against the military-rule of Myanmar. The CNA is headquartered at Victoria Camp  across India-Myanmar border. Myanmar's army dropped bombs from its fighter planes on these camps, said reports.

After these aerial-strike, there was news in some international media that some bombs fell on the Indian side as well.
