Former cricketer Robin Uthappa summoned by ED in illegal betting app case

New Delhi/IBNS: Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in the money laundering case linked to alleged illegal betting app 1xBet, media reports said.
Uthappa, a right-handed batter, has been asked to appear before the ED on September 22.
Earlier, ex-India cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan were quizzed by the probe agency in connection with the case.
On Monday, Bengali actress and former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mimi Chakraborty was questioned by the ED officials in Delhi for about nine hours.
The ED has also issued summons to Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela and Mimi's colleague in Tollywood, Ankush Hazra in the same case.
The two have been asked to turn up before the ED on Tuesday.
The ED is probing into multiple cases linked to illegal betting apps that have allegedly duped several people.
Earlier this year, the Indian parliament passed a law banning real money-based online games.
The ED has already filed a case against 29 celebrities including top actors Vijay Deverakonda, Rana Daggubati and Prakash Raj.
Others include actors Manchu Lakshmi, Nidhi Agarwal, influencers Sreemukhi, Shyamala, Shoba Shetty.
