Indian asks students to stay indoor amid mob violence in Bishkek

India has directed students in Bishkek to 'stay indoors' for the moment after mob violence occurred in the Kyrgyzstani city.


The Indian Embassy in the country said the situation in the city is 'presently calm'.

"We are in touch with our students. The situation is presently calm but students are advised to stay indoors for the moment and get in touch with the Embassy in case of any issue. Our 24×7 contact number is 0555710041," the embassy said in its X post.

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar posted on X: "Monitoring the welfare of Indian students in Bishkek. Situation is reportedly calm now. Strongly advise students to stay in regular touch with the Embassy."

According to reports, several Pakistani students were injured in mob violence in their hostel.

Several videos of the incidents are now going viral on the social media.

No Indian students have been injured so far.

The Pakistan Embassy in the country said: "Kyrgyz government has confirmed that there is no death of Pakistani student in the recent mob violences against international students."

"Moreover, Kygyz Ministry of Internal Affairs has also issued press releases stating that the situation is under control. Link of the press release is given below," the Embassy said.

The Embassy also directed Pakistani students to stay indoors until the situation returns to completely normal.
