Five more Bangladesh nationals arrested from Maharani, Gomati district

After a brief halt, the Infiltration from the unrest that hit Bangladesh into Tripura continued and again on Thursday five Bangladeshi were arrested by Tripura police from Maharani area of Gomati district.
Infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued for Bangladesh and in the last few months hundreds of Bangladesh nationals along with Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.
After a brief half, especially after operation ‘Sindoor’, the infiltration was almost stopped due tight security in the entire stretch of border, but during the past two months Bangladesh nationals were arrested from different parts of the state.
Police sources said that during routine Naka-checking on the Udaipur–Amarpur road, police detained five Bangladeshi intruders on Thursday morning at Maharani naka point under the jurisdiction of Maharani Outpost in Udaipur.
According to police sources, on Thursday, officers from Maharani Outpost stopped a suspected vehicle at the naka point for routine checkups. At that time, an auto-rickshaw heading towards Agartala was stopped. The behavior of the five passengers inside the auto-rickshaw seemed suspicious, prompting the police to question them. During preliminary interrogation, they admitted that they were traveling from Shilachari to Agartala in search of jobs and that they were Bangladeshi nationals.
The detained youths have been identified as Golam Rabbali (26), Mohammad Sagar Ali (18), Shamsul Haque (58), Suman Reza (32), and Shakil Sheikh (23) and all were residents of Chapai Nawabganj district of Bangladesh. They have now been taken to RK police station for further interrogation. Police are investigating how and for what purpose they entered India illegally.
This incident has once again raised questions over border security and surveillance.
Police added said that investigation is underway to identify those who helped them enter India and added that police have registered a specific case under sections of the Passports Act, the Foreigners Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and all arrested foreigners would be produced before a local court on Friday with police remand appeals for further legal proceedings. Police also said that all those involved in these cases will be arrested and police will launch another operation to arrest human traffickers involved with infiltration of Bangladeshi into Tripura’s territory.
