Fire in Myanamr's Ayeyarwady region leaves 26 houses destroyed
A fire engulfed 26 houses in southern Myanmar's Ayeyarwady region, an official from the Labutta Township Fire Station told Xinhua on Tuesday.
The fire broke out in Labutta Township, Ayeyarwady Region, at around 4 p.m. local time on Monday. There were no fatalities or injuries in the incident.
The fire was caused by a phone battery exploding as a result of overheating during charging, he added.
Most of the houses were constructed with thatched roofs and wood, which easily catch fire. Additionally, the houses were very close to each other, which made the fire spread even faster.
The natural disaster management team and regional government provided cash assistance, while well-wishers from urban areas provided rice and other supplies to the households affected by the fire, he added.
