Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch set to marry for fifth time at 92
Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of Fox Corporation, an Australia-born media mogul and an American businessman, is engaged to marry for the fifth time at the age of 92.
The 92-year-old media mogul got engaged to former San Francisco police chaplain Ann Lesley Smith.
The couple intends to marry in the summer.
Murdoch stated, "We're both looking forward to spending the second half of our lives together."
"I was very nervous," Mr Murdoch told the tabloid newspaper. I was terrified of falling in love, but I knew it would be my last. It had better be. I'm content."
Murdoch presented Ann Lesley Smith with an Asscher-cut diamond solitaire ring on March 17 in New York.
His future wife was previously married to Chester Smith, a country-western singer and radio and television executive who died in 2008. The two became friends because they both worked in the media industry.
Smith stated to the New York Post, "It's a gift from God for both of us. We first met in September of last year."
She went on to say, "I've been a widow for 14 years. My husband, like Rupert, was a businessman. Worked for local newspapers, created radio and television stations, and promoted Univision. So I'm fluent in Rupert's language. We hold similar beliefs."
From his first three marriages, Murdoch has six children. For six years, he was married to Ms Hall. From 1999 to 2013, he was married to Wendi Deng; from 1967 to 1999, he was married to Anna Maria Torv; and from 1956 to 1967, he was married to Patricia Booker.
