India-UK's growing partnership is important for global stability: PM Modi in joint statement with Keir Starmer
New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the "growing partnership" of India and the United Kingdom is important for the global stability and economic progress in the era of instability across the world.

Modi made the remarks in a joint statement with the visiting UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, in Mumbai.
With a reference to the conflicts in various parts of the world, Modi said, "India and the UK are natural partners. Our relationship is rooted in shared faith in values like democracy, freedom, and the rule of law.
"In today’s era of global instability, the growing partnership between India and the UK has become an important pillar of global stability and economic progress."
Hours after US President Donald Trump announced the first step to the Israel-Gaza peace deal, Modi said he discussed with Starmer on the issues related to global peace and stability.
"In today’s meeting, we also exchanged views on peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific and West Asia regions, as well as on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. On the issues of the Ukraine conflict and Gaza, India supports all efforts aimed at restoring peace through dialogue and diplomacy.
"We are fully committed to enhancing maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region," the Indian Prime Minister said.
Speaking of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) which was signed between the two countries earlier this year, Modi said, "This agreement will reduce import costs for both countries, create new employment opportunities for youth, boost trade, and benefit both our industries and consumers.
"Your (Starmer) visit to India, just months after the signing of this agreement, along with the largest-ever business delegation, symbolizes the new energy and broader vision in the India–UK partnership."
The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the UK was signed in July 2025 during Modi's visit to the country.
Visiting India for two days, Starmer was on Wednesday received by Governor of Maharashtra and Gujarat Acharya Devvrat in Mumbai.
