RPF of NFR seized contraband items (Ganja) worth over Rs 19.69 Lakh

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N.F. Railway has intensified its drives against smuggling of contraband items. In recent days, RPF teams across various locations under Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) conducted multiple successful operations, recovering approximately 196 kg of Ganja valued at over Rs. 19.69 lakh between 25th September and 2nd October, 2025 from different trains and stations. The RPF teams also apprehended several individuals associated with the smuggling of these contraband items.

On 1stOctober 2025, RPF of NFR seized a total of 14.1 kg of contraband Ganja worth approximately Rs. 1.41 lakh in two separate operations. At Dimapur Railway Station, RPF personnel recovered 10 kg of Ganja valued at Rs.1 lakh, while another 4.1 kg worth Rs. 41,000 was recovered by the CPDS team of RPF/Alipurduar Junction from Train No. 13174 DN at New Coochbehar Railway Station. The seized items were treated as unclaimed and handed over to the respective GRP units for further legal action.

On 30thSeptember, 2025, RPF teamof Agartala Post recovered 31 kg of unclaimed Ganja worth approximately Rs. 3.10 lakh from the Agartala station yard. The seized contraband was subsequently handed over to the Officer-in-Charge, GRP Agartalawho registered a GDE No. 11 dated 30.09.2025 under Section 106 for further legal action.

On 25th September, 2025, a joint team of RPF and GRP, Badarpur, conducted a routine drive in Train No. 12508 (Silchar–Thiruvananthapuram Central) Express at Badarpur railway station. During the drive, two women passengers carrying suspicious bags were intercepted. On inspection, the bags were found to contain approximately 26.445 kgs of Ganja valued at about Rs. 2.64 lakhs. The women were apprehended along with the seized contraband and handed over to GRP/Badarpur, for further legal action.

The RPF of N.F. Railway continues to remain vigilant and committed in its mission to curb illegal activities such as smuggling of contraband, theft and human trafficking. It also actively assists passengers in need during their travel.
