16 Rohingya, Bangladesh nationals arrested from Agartala railway station
Based on secret information , the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Saturday morning detained 16 Rohingyas and Bangladesh nationals with three children from Agartala railway station.
Giving details of , GRP Inspector Rana Chatterjee said that with the help of an Indian tout , these 16 foreigners arrived at the Agartala railway station to board Kanchanjunga Express to go to Kolkata.
Based on the information police on suspicious ground detained these foreigners and after interrogation, they found among them 14 are Rohingyas including three children, two Bangladesh nationals and one India tout, who was working as their agent to shift them into Kolkata after entering into Indian territory without any valid documents.
Police added that an Indian agent was roaming in the station to reach outside the state by Kanchanjunga express, but police managed to detain him, who was identified as Abhijit Deb, son of Pradip Deb, of Madhupur school Tilla under Bishalgarh police station.
Chatterjee said a specific case under the Foreigner Act has been registered and all these detained persons have been forwarded before a local court for further legal proceedings.
He said that GRP in the present month of February have already arrested 33 Rohingyas and Bangla nationals from Agartala railway station ,who had arrived in India without any valid documents.
