77th Independence Day celebrated at Holy Cross School, Agartala
India’s 77th Independence Day was celebrated with great pomp and show on Holy Cross School Campus on Tuesday. Biswajit Gupta, Former Director of SCERT and Former Principal of Ramthakur College, hoisted the national flag and accepted. Rev. Fr. Simon Fernandes, CSC, President of Holy Cross Educational Foundation, Northeast India, was our honoured guest. A tribute was offered to our National Leaders, and then a tableau was flagged off.
In order to usher in and as part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav” initiative to indoctrinate patriotism and to create cognisance of India’s Independence among the present generation. The school began the celebrations and Inter-House competitions on August 01, 2023. There were Rangoli, Face-painting, Character Dramatization, Poster Making, Extempore and other contests, to name a few. The paintings of many brave freedom fighters and our national symbols were displayed around the school. The school campus was decorated with flowers, flags, and posters, further building the tempo. There was patriotism to be seen galore in every contender.
The culmination of their allegiance to their country was reached on Independence Day when a tableau was taken out from the school campus. The pageant left the school in what seemed like a never-ending train down the long stretch from Durjoynagar to Fire Brigade Chowmuhani. Since there were tributes to our brave warriors, India’s contribution to G20, the future of AI, etc., could Chandrayan be far behind? True to their characters, the children remained silent actors portraying the essence of patriotism through their roles.
They returned edified that they had done their part in carrying on the traditions set by our ancestors to reiterate the ideas of patriotism, benevolence, and belief in our abilities to build a better tomorrow. It was a day of pride, love and respect spent fruitfully for our beloved nation. God bless our nation and Holy Cross.
