9 Rohingyas migrants detain in Agartala railway station
Altogether nine Rohingyas refugees from Bangladesh were detained from Agartala railway station, who were entered into Tripura’s territory without any valid documents.
Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer Sabysache De through a press statement said that in continuing the fight to detect illegal migrants and Rohingyas the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway has apprehended nine Bangladeshi/Rohingiyas and from Agartala railway station while conducting a special checking on 15th December, 2022. They were handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Agartala.
On the incident day, RPF team of Agartala jointly with GRP,Agartala conducted a special check against illegal migrants in all the incoming and outgoing trains at Agartala railway station. While checking they detected 9 Bangladeshi (5 females and 4 males). On interrogation they could not produce any valid documents and later confessed that they were from Bangladesh and of Myanmar origin. Later all the 9 Bangladeshi/ Rohingyas were apprehended and brought to RPF Post, Agartala and handed over to Officer In-charge (OC) of Government Railway Police, Agartala for further legal action. RPF staff deployed at stations and trains are very vigilant and keep a close eye on illegal migrants, Rohingyas and suspected persons.
