Act East policy has played a vital role in development of NE region, CM
The government is seriously working to implement different schemes of the central and state government for socio-economic development of people living in rural areas. In this regard, officials and employees of different levels of the Rural Development department have a significant role to play, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha after inaugurating a State-Level Review Meeting cum Workshop held at Pragna Bhawan on Wednesday on Current Status and Progress of Different RD Schemes.
The Chief Minister in the workshop said, the Act East Policy has played a vital role in the development of the North Eastern region. Through implementing this Policy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to take the North Eastern states towards the path of development. The Policy has benefitted Tripura as well. District Magistrates of different districts of the state and officials of Rural Development department were present in the workshop. The Chief Minister said, the RD department has an important role in bringing overall development in the rural areas. The Prime Minister always has said that a state can never develop without development of the rural areas. The Prime Minister has even emphasized upon appropriately utilizing each and every amount that has been allotted for the purpose of rural development.
The state government is also following the footsteps of the Prime Minister to achieve the same goal. He said, officials of the department are working to ensure that people of rural areas get the benefits of different central schemes. As a result, the state is in a good position presently among other states in the country in implementing different schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin). It is a matter of pride for the state. The Chief Minister said, prior to 2018, 24 thousand 989 houses were granted under PMAY-G. In the financial year 2018-19 to 2019-20, the state was granted 28,838 houses. Later on, with the sincere efforts of the state government, 1 lakh 83 thousand 590 houses were granted in the financial year 2020-21. Furthermore, 44,921 houses were granted in the financial year 2021-22. Apart from that, more 1 lakh 30 thousand 695 houses were granted for the state for the present financial year by the central government yesterday. These are the benefits of double engine government, added the Chief Minister.
Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha in the programme said, the RD department is sincerely working for development of rural areas. As a result of which, the state stands in a good position in the country in successfully implementing different central schemes including PMAY and MGNREGA. In this regard, the Union Minister of Rural Development also on different occasions has lauded about the same. Secretary of RD department Dr. Debashish Bose also spoke on the occasion. Other dignitaries present there were CEO of TRLM Prasad Rao and Additional Secretary of RD department Arun Kumar Roy.
