ADB held workshop on strategic procurement planning for development of 13 industrials estates in Tripura
The state government in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), held a workshop on the Strategic Procurement Planning for infrastructure development of 13 industrial estates across 6 districts in Tripura on May 19.
The government has obtained a Project Readiness Financing (PRF) loan from the ADB of approximately 18 crore and further, approx. 1200 crore loan is expected for development of industrial infrastructure across Tripura. The objective of the project is to create an impact of an increased contribution of the manufacturing sector to GSDP, employment and trade. Investments in manufacturing sector would lead to faster growth in GSDP and per capita income; benefiting the citizens of Tripura. Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Limited has been tasked for the same. TIDCL has appointed Mott MacDonald Pvt. Ltd. as Project Development and Management Consultants (PDMC) for supporting TIDCL in development of Industrial Infrastructure. PDMC organised this workshop as part of the strategic procurement planning activities.
The workshop was held at Hotel Polo Towers in Agartala. The objective of the workshop was to discuss the progress of the project and seek inputs from stakeholders on the way forward on the Procurement Planning for the workshop. The workshop was attended by representatives from the Planning Department, Finance Department, PWD, DWS, TSECL, BSNL, TNGCL, contractors, and consultants working in the region.
The workshop was chaired and addressed by the K. S Sethi, Principal Secretary, Department of Industry and Commerce. The workshop was divided into two sessions. The first half focused on the progress of the project and the second was focused on the Procurement Planning and Packaging of Infrastructure across all the Industrial Estates.
The workshop had participation from more than 100 individuals. The interactive session captured the stakeholders’ suggestions on sizing of the infrastructure packages along with the infrastructure components to be developed within various Industrial Estates. The workshop served as a platform to foster collaboration, exchange expertise, and collectively shape the future direction of industrial infrastructure development in Tripura. By bringing together the various stakeholders and harnessing their insights, the Government of Tripura and its partners are committed to delivering infrastructure that aligns with international standards and empowers the industrial sector, generating sustainable economic growth and prosperity for the people of Tripura.
The inputs received during the workshop are now being used to finalize the procurement plan and to ensure that the development of infrastructure for industries are to the international standards. The Government of Tripura is committed to developing the state as a manufacturing hub by development of Infrastructure in the Industrial Estates The workshop was an important step in this regard.
