Agriculture Minister inaugurates ‘Centre of excellence, vegetables’ at Birchandra Manu
Development of agriculture and agriculture related sectors has been given utmost importance to build a self-reliant India. Various programmes have been taken up for the development of agriculture and welfare of farmers in our state. Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath said this while inaugurating CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE, VEGETABLES at Birchandra Manu in South Tripura district on October 19, 2023. MDC Sanjib Reang, Secretary of Agriculture Department Apurba Roy, District Magistrate of South Tripura District Saju Vaheed A, Ex MLA Shankar Roy and others were present on the occasion.
The Agriculture Minister also said that the current government has prioritized doubling the income of farmers by giving utmost importance to agriculture.
Paddy is being procured from farmers at subsidized rates. The benefits of PM- Kisan scheme are being extended to the farmers. Besides, loans are being given to farmers through Kisan Credit Cards. Besides, new and improved agricultural technologies are being used to produce double crops in less land.
The Agriculture Minister said that there are 60 advanced technology Centres of Excellence, Vegetables in the country. Out of which, Centres of Excellence, Vegetables was inaugurated on October 19, 2023 at Birchandra Manu in South Tripura district.
This Centres of Excellence, Vegetable has been constructed at a cost of 3 crore 96 lakh rupees on 6 hectares of land. It will be possible to produce about 15 lakh vegetable seedlings from this centre throughout the year.
The centre has green house, poly house, administrative building and training centre. Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department Dr. Phani Bhushan Jamatia gave the welcome speech.
