The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday conducted a massive cleaning drive against encroachment city drains to clear the garbage and different kinds of construction materials  illegally stored above drains and roads by construction agencies involved with constriction of flats.

Finally, on Wednesday AMC  to clear illegal  activities of different construction agencies, which are choking many drains of the city and causing inundated  situation at the busiest roads in the city  and the  teams of AMC has also cleared the road  by removal of illegal construction material stored in the road and above the drains..

The massive eviction drive in the Netaji Chowmuhani area of Agartala city has been continuing since Tuesday, AMC officials of Central Zone with a big team of corporation and security forces started their eviction drive and cleared the road.

Assistant Commissioner of Central Zone, Tarun Sarkar said that as per the decision taken by the Commissioner of AMC, all the city roads and drains encroached by construction agencies would be cleared . He said that many agencies involved with construction of flats in different lanes of the city often choked the drains by pouring materials, which is one of the reasons for flood like situation in the city after downpour.

Sarkar said that the drive will continue up to June 2nd and all zones of the AMC will conduct such drive to clear all passages and drains of the city.

He said that before encroaching free drive, AMC had served notices to all persons, who illegally occupied the government land and roads.
