Assam police denied transit remand for a human trafficker on technical ground, involved with Rohingya infiltration
A team of Assam police arrived at Belonia to arrest a person involved with human trafficking and after transit remand prayer before a local court, but court refusing transit remand sent the accused man to jail custody.
The court also ordered the state police to shift the accused man to Karimganj central jail of Assam, then Assam police can arrest the accused man through CJM court.
Sources said that on Monday, a group of police personnel from neighbouring Assam state led by one SI Chittaranjan Borah arrived at Belonia police station to arrest one man identified as Partha Sen, who was recently arrested by Belonia police station along with a Bangladeshi woman for human trafficking.
Then , a local court sent the arrested Bangladesh woman to 14-days jail custody under Passport Act and Partha Sen was given bail from the police station with the condition of weekly appearance in the police station.
When, on Monday accused Partha Sen arrived at the Belonia police station, immediately Assam police arrested him and has also produced before a local court with transit remand appeal.
Police said that Assam police based on a FIR registered at Silchar police station under section 14 of Foreigner Act, section 12(1)© of Passport Act with added section 307 of IPC and 14© of Foreigners Act.
Police added that a few days ago, the Silchar police arrested 14 Rohingyas, who entered into Indian territory through the Belonia border and during interrogation, arrested Rohingyas revealed the name of accused Partha Sen, who was allegedly involved with human trafficking.
Based on that FIR, the Assam police arrived at Belonia to arrest Partha Sen, but they produced him before a local court, court denied for transit remand on technical ground and send him to Belonia jail up to July 21 next and has also order the SP(DIB) to shift accused Partha Sen to Karimganj central jail from Tripura. Then, Assam police can arrest him after the local CJM court allows the Silchar police.
