Attack by wild bear at a remote jungle of Dasda-Kanchanpur, one critical
In another incident of man-animal conflict, one more youth suffered grievous injuries, when a wild bear attacked him at remote jungles of Dasda-Laxmipur village of Kanchanpur subdivision under North Tripura district on Sunday morning,when he was busy with collecting bamboo shoots.
Sources said that a youth identified as Rajit Kumar Reang (35) on Sunday morning went to interior jungles of Dasda-Laxmipur village of Kanchanpur to collect bamboo shoots. When he was busy with collecting bamboo shoots, a wild bear attacked him and severely damaged many parts of his body including his face.
Hearing hue and cry, some local people from nearby ‘Jhum’ fields rushed to the spot and rescued Ranjit Reang. They shifted the injured youth to Dasda Hospital and in critical condition; he was referred to Dharmanagar district hospital on Sunday afternoon. Later, a seriously injured man was referred to GB Hospital when his condition deteriorated.
Hospital sources said that the condition of injured Ranjit Rean is now little bit stable and many parts of his body including his face were smashed by the bites of the bear.
While, on Monday a team of Forest personnel led by SDFO (Sadar), Tapojyoti Debbarma visited GB Hospital and met the injured man. They also provided some financial assistance to the victim family as per Forest rules for his necessary treatment.
Earlier, many villagers from interior parts of the state were attacked by wild bears, when they were collecting bamboo shoots, wild potatoes or busy in Jhum cultivation.
