Belonia Women PS refused to register gang rape case, suggests victim to lodge complaint before Gram Panchayat

In a gross denial case from given basic protection and justice to a gang rape victim, the women police station of Belonia under South Tripura district refused to register a gang rape case and without any medical test, police suggested the victim lady and her husband to before their complaint before Gram Panchayat.
After facing denial from police station, the rape victim and her husband speaking with local media persons alleged when she was busy with rubber tapping works at the rubber garden of one Mridul Nag at Paikhola area under Belonia subdivision, two miscreants identified as Joy Tripura and Mithun Tripura raped her in the rubber garden, located at an interior place.
Later, the victim lady somehow rescued herself from clutches of miscreants and raised her alarm. Within a few minutes, her husband and other garden workers rushed to the spot. Then, she with tears in eyes narrated the brutal incident committed on her by two miscreants.
They immediately rushed to the Belonia women police station, but, surprisingly, on-duty police officers refused to register her complaint, even though they did not conduct the necessary medical test. Accused police officers suggested the victim lady and her husband lodge their complaint before the local Gram Panchayat and mutually resolve the issue, said Husband of the victim lady.
He said that her wife has multiple injuries and she, after facing brutality, was totally traumatized, but police do not feel like shifting her to a local hospital for necessary medical care.
He also alleged that on-duty police officers had also abused them and when they requested for medical tests, police told them ‘no need for medical examination’ and better they should lodge their complaint before Gram Panchayat.
While, the victim lady urged the local media persons to demand justice and appeal to ensure punishment to two culprits.
