Bike lifter gang member arrested, two stolen bikes recovered
One infamous motorbike lifter and a member of a thief gang was arrested by Agartala city police on Saturday and recovered two stolen bikes under his possession.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of West Agartala police station, Paritosh Das said that on June 15, 2024, a specific case has been registered after a motorbike was stolen allegedly by a bike lifter gang.
During investigation of the case, police have recovered a numberless Hero Honda bike from the bordering Joypur area and have also arrested two bike lifters including a Bangladeshi. They were identified as Alamgir Miah of Chandinimura under the same police station and Arajit Hussain of Bangladesh.
OC said that based on their interrogation statements and verifying CCTV footage, police has identified the third lifter Samir Mallik of Noabadi area of Jirania and on Saturday morning, police has managed to arrest him. Police have also recovered two stolen bikes under his possession.
He said that arrested Samir Mallik was an infamous bike lifter and he along with his associates are running a bike lifter gang. While, on Saturday he was produced before a local court with police remand appeals with police remand appeals for further interrogation and to unearth their lifting gang network.
