Biplab Deb distorts poll manifesto: Jitendra Chaudhury
The Leader of Opposition (LoP) and CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury on Wednesday strongly refused the claims made by BJP Candidate of West Tripura Lok Sabha seat, Biplab Kumar Deb and termed these as "misleading" and "distorted".
Addressing a press conference at CPI(M) headquarters in Agartala on Wednesday morning, Chaudhury in his reply to Biplab Kumar Deb's assertions, particularly regarding the CPI(M) poll manifesto strongly criticized BJP candidate and dismissed Biplab's allegations that the party intends to dismantle nuclear plants and army camps, labeling them as attempts to mislead the public and defame the party.
Chaudhury clarified that the CPI(M) manifesto advocates for a nuclear weapon-free world, similar to the United Nations' stance, rather than advocating for the destruction of India's own nuclear arsenal. He elaborated on the manifesto's provisions, emphasizing the party's commitment to denying access to Indian military facilities for countries engaged in armed intervention. Moreover, Chaudhury underscored the party's concerns over militarization in Antarctica and space, stressing the need for India to assertively address environmental crises in Polar Regions.
Highlighting the broader agenda of the CPI(M), Chaudhury emphasized the party's focus on economy, education, culture, agriculture, Science and its international responsibilities. He accused Biplab Kumar Deb of fabricating allegations and distorting facts to tarnish the image of CPI(M).
Chaudhury also alleged that under Biplab's leadership, groups like the "bike gang" and "helmet gang" were formed, which purportedly engaged in violence and the destruction of opposition party offices in Tripura. He concluded by asserting that the people of the state reject such falsehoods propagated by BJP leadership.
