BJP maintain its alliance partnership, 5 seats given to IPFT
Dumping all possibilities of having alliance with Tipra-Motha, the ruling BJP to continue its alliance with their old partner IPFT offering lesser seats in comparison to 2018 assembly elections.
According to the new arrangement, the alliance partner IPFT will get five seats, while they contested in 9 seats in 2018 assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference in a hotel at Agartala on Saturday evening, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha accompanied by BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee , former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and IFPT’s youth leader Suklacharan Noyatia said that BJP always maintain its political partnership with their alliance partner.
“In the 2018 assembly elections, our party formed an alliance with IPFT based on a common minimum programme and after polls, we also formed the government and gave due respect to our alliance partner,” said Dr Saha and added that BJP never dumped its partner and always gave due respect.
He said that after bilateral discussions, both parties agreed on five seats and as per the decision, IPFT candidates will contest in the ensuing assembly elections from Takarjala, Ramchandraghat, Asharambari, Julaibari and Kanchanpur assembly constituencies.
Speaking in the press meet IPFT leader Suklacharan Noyatia mentioning the alliance history of 2018 said that under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and their former supremo N C Debbarma, the BJP-IPFT alliance has formed the government in 2018 and successfully completed its five years.
Now, the party under the direction of present president and Minister Prem Kumar Reang has also decided to continue its alliance with BJP for overall development of Tripura and will contest in the assembly elections in five seats as alliance partner of BJP.
He said that their party has decided that Jayanti Debbarma, daughter of late leader N C Debbarma will contest their election of Asharambari assembly constituency and names of remaining four candidates will be declared soon.
