BSF trained ‘Aapda Mitra’ for disaster management

The closing ceremony of training programme of community volunteers on Disaster Response in 109th battalion of BSF headquarters in Bagafa area of South Tripura district was held on Saturday.

The closing ceremony of training programme of community volunteers on Disaster Response in 109th battalion of BSF headquarters in Bagafa area of South Tripura district was held on Saturday.

The ceremony was graced by Saju Vaheed A, DM of South Tripura, Ashok Kumar Yadav, Commandant, 109th battalion BSF and Sarad Kumar Das, State Project Manager of Disaster Management.

BSF sources said that trainees were trained with lectures on topics such as disaster management in general and acts, earthquake, Tsunami, lighting and thundering, Rescue and relief measures, snake and animal bites, role of media in disaster management etc. Practical topics such as patient assessment controlled bleeding and soft tissue injuries, BLS and CPR, oxygen therapy, medical emergencies, lifting and moving patients with improvised stretchers etc.

Commencement of training programme was on October 10 and continued up to October 22 at the battalion headquarters, which was sponsored by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and supported by Revenue department of Tripura government organized by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of South Tripura district. Faculties of 109th battalion of BSF personnel along with guest faculties from DDMA trained the participating youths.
