CEO calls for peace in all party meeting
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura , Kiran Gitte has convened a meeting with all the political parties in the conference hall of the DM(West) on Sunday and issues of post-poll law and order situation in the state have been discussed in the meeting.
In the meeting, the CEO mentioned that as promised, Election Commission of India has delivered free, fair, transparent and peaceful Assembly Election in the State.
Gitte has thanked all the political parties for their co-operation in making this Assembly Election a free, fair and transparent.
He also requested all the political parties to appeal their supporters to be tolerant and to show patience and not to take law in their hands. If any violent incident happens, then they should approach the Sub-Divisional Magistrates and the concerned Police authority. Personal animosity and family feud shall not be projected as a political incidence as it will give a wrong message to the society and it may deteriorate law and order situation.
Election Commission of India (ECI) is monitoring the law and order in the State on daily basis. No post poll violence of any kind shall be tolerated. Adequate CAPF is available to ensure peace and tranquility. Police authorities and CAPF shall take strict action against those involved in disturbing the law and order in the State
The candidates may engage their agent / representative, if not engaged earlier for guarding the strong rooms where the polled EVMs are stored.
CEO has appealed to all political parties to co-operate in maintaining law and order before counting of votes and also after counting. Any untoward incidence like political violence, if happens, shall be dealt with firmly.
