City police arrested 9 thieves, recovered stolen items
Resolving three theft cases in different parts of Agartala, the City police on Wednesday arrested 9 thieves including a shop owner and recovered large quantities of household stolen items under their possessions.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of New Capital Complex (NCC) police station of Agartala, Sushanta Deb said that on September 5th, one Vivek Sarkar of Lichubagar area registered a complaint of stealing in his house, in which thieves had stolen some valuable items.
Based on the CCTV footage from Vivek Sarkar’s house, police have managed to identify a few thieves and have also arrested them. During interrogation, arrested thieves revealed the names of their other associates, who had committed two more thefts in two temples at Cantonment areas.
On Wednesday, police has recovered all the stolen items worth of lakhs from a shop of one Rakesh Sarkar at Radhanagar area of the city, where thieves has sold all of their stolen items, said Deb and added that along with shop owner, altogether nine thieves involved in three stolen incidents were arrested and forwarded them in a local court with police remand appeals for further interrogation.
He also said that during interrogation, police will be abled to identify other thieves involved in many stolen incidents in and around the city.
