CM urges businessmen to compete with investors of other states
In an impassioned address to the businessmen of Tripura, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday urged them to compete with investors from other states, recognizing their crucial role in the state's economy by referring to them as the backbone of Tripura's economy.
Speaking at the BJP Trade Cell's Businessman Sanmelan, Chief Minister Dr Saha emphasized his personal connection with the business community, having come from a family of businessmen himself.
He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's unwavering commitment to development, stating that Tripura is the sole northeastern state to have reaped the benefits of the Act East policy.
"We are witnessing remarkable progress in Tripura under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Our state now boasts a state-of-the-art railway station, a testament to the feel-good environment that has taken hold. With the introduction of 13 express trains, connecting us to various parts of the country, travel has become convenient for our citizens. This transformative change is made possible because of PM Modi. Furthermore, our highways are also undergoing significant development, with six nearing completion and four more set to commence soon”, said Dr Saha.
Dr. Saha underscored the flourishing business opportunities arising from Tripura's enhanced connectivity, facilitated by the state's robust internet infrastructure and the region's best airport. Acknowledging that the state had faced connectivity challenges in the past, he emphasized that Tripura now possesses all the necessary resources to attract investors from across India and beyond. He encouraged the local businessmen to step up and compete with these investors, stressing the importance of their development for the overall progress of Tripura's economy.
"The prosperity of Tripura hinges upon your active participation. You are the driving force behind our state's economic growth. Without your forward-thinking approach, Tripura cannot achieve its full potential. We need to increase production and encourage further investment to continue our upward trajectory”, urged Dr Saha.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister criticized the previous left front government for sowing discord between businessmen and employees, leading to the destruction of industries in the state.
“During the then government they had tried to create a difference between the businessmen and employees. They have played politics just to put a stop on the development. But after 2014 when Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, people were assured that they could invest without any problems. During the left front all the factories were shut down. But our government is working for the development of owners, businessmen and as well as for the workers. The face of the country changed after PM Modi came”, said Dr Saha.
