Construction of RCC pillar: One mason died, 3 injured in electrocution at Belonia

In a tragic incident, one meson died on the spot and three other suffered critical injuries by electrocution, when a construction road struck with electric cable at Belonia near SBI branch under South Tripura district on Wednesday.
Police sources said that when a group of meson and other construction workers were busy with RCC pillaring at the house of Chandan Majumder near SBI branch of Belonia amidst rain.
When the workers were arranging iron rods for the RCC pillar, all of sudden one toll rod struck with an electric cable and as a result, one meson identified as Subrata Karmakar alias Kalu electrocuted. Hearing hue and cry of the electrocuted meson, other labourers including inmates of the house rushed to the spot and tried to rescue him, but they including a woman also suffered grievous injuries due to electrocution.
Immediately, power line cut off and firefighters shifted all injured persons to Belonia hospital, where visiting doctors declared meson Subrata Karmakar as brought dead, whereas three other injured persons were admitted to hospital in critical condition.
The sudden death of the mason, who hails from Shaltilla of Belonia, has cast a shadow of deep grief and mourning in the Belonia subdivision.
