CPI (M) demands immediate intervention of administration to stop violence
Opposition CPI (M) seeking immediate intervention of state’s administration, meets the Chief Secretary in a deputation to take concrete steps to stop post-poll violence.
After their deputation, addressing a press conference here at CPI(M) headquarters, party’s state president accompanied by two veteran leaders Narayan Kar and Tapan Chakraborty said that soon after announcement of poll results, large-scale of violence and arsoning going on across the state, which were resorted by the supporters of BJP.
He said that there are incidents of intimidation of different forms like vandalizing, looting and arsoning of dwelling houses and business establishments, physical attacks, extortion of huge money and creating embargo to the livelihoods of the common people.
He alleged that the present post-poll situation has been further deteriorated due to reluctance of the law and order machinery and hardly there is any arrest or any sort of effective measures to control this menace, which has been encouraging the trouble-mongers to vitiate the atmosphere.
He said that both Left parties and Congress are trying to make a deputation to the Governor of Tripura demanding peace, but the office of the Governor is refusing to give any appointment, which is very unfortunate for democracy.
After five years of large-scale violence and continuous attacks on common people, the BJP soon after winning to power against resorted same politics of violence and terror, said Chaudhury and alleged that after March 2nd results, they have submitted a list of 698 incidents across the state, in which properties belongs to opposition were ransacked or burnt into ashes and physically attacked , even women and children were also not spared.
He said that on behalf of CPI(M) Tripura state committee they week the immediate intervention into the matter and all trouble mongers are strongly handled, strict applications of section-144 now promulgated in many areas and relief to the victim families.
He also appealed to the Chief Secretary J K Sinha to organize an all party peace meeting to maintain the peace and tranquility of the state with immediate effect.
Chaudhury also said that due to division of anti-BJP votes and contesting elections in many seats by Tipra-Motha candidates has facilitated the victory of BJP candidates.
Meanwhile, in another press meet the leaders of CPI(M) West Tripura district committee demanded immediate intervention of DM(West) to stop violent attacks on opposition families.
CPI(M) leader Ratan Das said that after poll results, BJP aided goons started heinous attacks on Left Front and Congress workers as well as common people all over the district. Miscreants are physically assaulting people, attacking houses, destruction of household properties and setting fire on dwelling houses, said Das and demanded that the police and general administration take emergent and necessary steps to stop such horrible attacks on innocent people.
