CPI (M) showing polling data of West Tripura PC urges ECI to arrange fresh poll
Opposition CPI(M) in another letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday giving statistics of voting percentages and mismatching of polled votes of four polling booths under West Tripura parliamentary constituency justifies the demand of INDIA Bloc to countermand both Lok Sabha election in West Tripura and by-poll for 7-Ramnagar assembly seat.
CPI(M) state secretary and leader of opposition (LoP), Jitendra Chaudhury in letter to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) said that four polling booths from 10-Majlishpur, 5-Kayerpur and 2-Mohanpur assembly constituencies under 1-West Tripura parliamentary constituency shows the mismatching of polled votes , where election was held on April 19, 2024 last in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections.
Chaudhury in his letter shows that part number-44 of 10-Majlishpur assembly constituency under West Tripura PC have total voters of 545, but as per the statement of the Election department polled votes are 566, 3 postal Home vote and 5 more EDC vote, which has in total polled votes is 574 and casting is 105.30%.
In the part number -44 of 5-Kayerpur assembly segment, total voters are 1290, polled in polling station-1279, postal vote-4, aged Home vote-1, PwD vote-3 and EDC vote-5, but in total figures shows said that total polled votes 1292, which 100.15% casting, said Chaudhury.
Giving instances of two more polling booths, Chaudhury said that in the pat number-25 of 5-Kayerour assembly seat under West Tripura PC shows that total voters is 840, vote polled in polling station is 820, aged home vote 4, PwD-1 and EDC vote-5, total polled vote 830 at 98.80%.
In other figures of part number-38 of 2-Mohanpur assembly seat under the same West Tripura PC have total voters of 451, but during election day, a total of 492 votes polled as per the statement of Election department and polling turnout shows 109.09% voting.
“The records unequivocally vindicates that the election to 1-Tripura West PC and by-election to 7-Ramnagar assembly constituency , which is a part of the same parliamentary constituency, were not held in a free, fair and normal manner. Such mismatched polling percentage may happen only when the booths are captured and completely rigged in an organized manner,” said Chaudhury in his letter.
He added that the polling mis-matching justifies the demand of the Left Front as well as the INDIA Bloc to countermand both the above elections and arrange a fresh poll to prevent robbing of people’s mandate and for protecting the sanctity of democracy.
