Crisis of food, jobs deepening in hilly interiors, CPI (M)
The condition of people living in interior areas of Dhalai district are deteriorating day by day and villagers are acutely suffering from the crisis of food and jobs, alleged CPI(M) leaders.
Addressing a press conference here at CPI (M) headquarters on Friday evening three CPI(M) state secretariat members of the state committee including Ratan Bhowmik, Radhacharan Debbarma and Sudhan Das said that a delegation of CPI(M) leaders including former Chief Minister and party’s politburo member Manik Sarkar visited many interior villages under Dhalai district on June 7th and 8th last. During their visit to different interior villages under Chawmanu block including Thelcherra, Govindabari and other villages, the team noticed the deplorable conditions of hilly people.
Speaking in the press meet, former CEM of ADC, Radhacharan Debbarma said that they visited around a dozen of interior villages, similar pathetic conditions and severe crisis of food and jobs were witnessed.
“The rural and hilly area of Tripura are presently reeling under acute shortages of jobs and the government should ensure jobs under MGNREGA and works under own schemes of the departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, Forest and Fisheries to give villagers a scope to run their families,” said Debbarma.
Debbarma alleged that in the last three months the BJP-IPFT coalition government has totally failed to provide basic amenities for common people, especially in the ADC areas. The people of the state gave their mandate in favour of BJP-IPFT to get more opportunities, but they totally failed to fulfill people’s aspiration, said Debbarma.
During the past few months, the villagers only get a few mandays under MGNREGA and the lion share of wages are being taken away by few leaders of both BJP and Tipra-Motha and a large number of rural population are being denied their legitimate rights, said Debbarma.
Speaking in the press meet former MLA Sudhan Das mentioning their visits in some hilly areas of Tripura and reviewing the worsening situation of people, demanded for proper rationing system in remote ADC blocks.
Criticizing the BJP-IPFT coalition government, Das said that Chief Minister asked government administration to maintain their professional duties, but in reality there is no reflection of government’s works during last three months in hilly areas
He requested the authorities of the state government to visit the interior parts of Chawmanu and other areas, where people are forced to cross the international border to collect their livelihood.
Ratan Bhowmik urged the government to take a restoration drive to improve the condition of all hilly roads as people is suffering in the present rainy season and steps increase the mandays under MGNREGA.
