First Lok Adalat disposed 55.02 % pending cases
The first National Lok Adalat for the year 2024 held across all districts of Tripura and has disposed of 55.02 % of pending cases, which were taken up for disposal.
In the first National Lok Adalat for the year 2024 held on Saturday across the state to resolve 18,253 pending cases.
Sources in the Tripura State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) said that among the 18,253 cases, which were taken up in 43 courts across eight districts of the state including 5,185 pre-litigation and 13,068 more pending cases and among pre-litigation cases , a total of 760 cases were disposed with 14.65 percentage and among the pending cases, a total of 9,284 cases were disposed with 71.04 percent and a settlement amount of Rs.2,80,34,230 were collected.
The Member secretary Tripura State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA), Juma Datta Chowdhury said that based on the directives of National Legal Service Authority, a total of 43 courts of Tripura including High Court constituted to dispose pending cases of motor vehicle act and appeals cases, NI act, matrimonial cases, civil and criminal compoundable cases, family disputes, bank’s non-performing asset case, disposal of Traffic Chillan cases etc.
Earlier, the summons and e-notices to all the parties of these cases were issued by the respective courts and TSLSA has requested all concerned persons to remain present on the scheduled date in their respective courts for disposal of pending cases. TSLSA added that law volunteers and para-legal volunteers remained present in all courts to provide logistic support to all plaintiffs and defendants during the hearing of cases. The hearings for these cases were held through physical or through direct appearances and courts started their functioning from morning 10 AM and continued up to 4 PM on Saturday.
