Huge quantities of dry Ganja seized from two luxury cars in Teliamura, one smuggler arrested
Big success in curbing cannabis smuggling in Tripura!

In continuation of an anti-drug drive, the Tripura police on Tuesday achieved major success and seized large quantities of dry Cannabis (Ganja) from a luxury car with the arrest of one drug smuggler from the Mungiakami area of Khowai district.
Police sources said that drug smugglers are not adopting new tactics for transportation of their drug consignment and during today’s raid, police recovered ‘press’ and ‘Telecom Duty’ stickers with different fake number plates.
Giving details, OC of Mungiakami police station, Sanesh Debbarma said that based on information received from confidential sources, the police teams conducts two separate raids in Champlaibari and Uttar Maharani areas and seized a total of 580 kg of dry Ganja, along with two luxury cars and arrested one smuggler.
He said that a total of 219 kg of Ganja was recovered from a car in Champlaibari area, which had a sticker with the words Telecom Duty, a press sticker and 2-3 fake number plates, the real number of which is TR01A0852.
Police suspected that the smugglers were trying to transport cannabis through this car under the guise of administrative identity.
On the other hand, in the Uttar Maharani area, a driver named Sanjit Sarkar was arrested with 361 kg of Ganja. The registration number of this car was TR01CA0481, and it is also a luxury SUV.
After receiving the information about the raids, SDPO (Teliamura) Rohan Krishan and DCM Surajit Debbarma reached the spot and supervised the operation.
SDPO Rohan Krishan said these operations are part of the anti-drug operation, and investigation is underway to arrest main smugglers involved with transportation of seized drugs.
He said that during preliminary interrogation, arrested smuggler revealed that he was trying to smuggle these drugs towards Bihar state.
