ICAR Tripura organizes workshop on livelihood improvement of tribal farmers
ICAR Research Complex for North East Hill Region, Tripura Centre organized a workshop cum exhibition on "Livelihood improvement of Tribal Farming Communities through Integrated farming System" on Tuesday.
The workshop was inaugurated by Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma and the workshop was attended by more than 300 tribal farmers from all districts of Tripura. Dr. B.U. Choudhury, Head of ICAR Tripura deliberated in inaugural address on the different technologies developed by ICAR Tripura that has been transferred to about 6000 farmers across Tripura which has improved the economy of the tribal farmers by a margin of 30-55%. The Chief Guest Minister Animesh Debbarma applauded the role of ICAR in its endeavour and urged the farming community to be the front runners in adopting the technologies of ICAR. Dr. B.P. Singh, Convener of the programme highlighted on the Scheduled Tribe Component Project of ICAR and its implementation at grass root level. Other dignitaries like Runiel Debabarma (Executive Member, PWD & Rural Development, TTAADC), Santosh Das, Arabinda Debabarma (Director, T-Sameti), Shri Diganta Das (DGM NABARD) and Dr. A. B. Patel (Dean, College of Fisheries), Iqbal Ahmed, Sr. Commandant CRPF and Heads of the KVKs also attended the Workshop cum Exhibition. The Workshop concluded with distribution of various critical inputs like Paddy Seeds, Planting Materials, Poultry Chicks, Mushroom Spawn and Fish Fingerlings.
