Immersion carnival “Mayer Goman” on Oct 14 in Agartala
The great immersion carnival festival “Mayer Goman”, which will be held on October 14 by participation of all major community Durga Puja organizers of the capital city.
During a preparatory meeting held at ‘Muktadhara’ auditorium in Agartala on Sunday, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, where Chief Minister stressed over the beginning of carnival from Ujjayanta market by maintaining old traditions of the city, which has been accepted by all present in the meeting.
Speaking in the meeting, Chief Minister Dr Saha said the traditions and cultures of the clubs across the state have been changed, which have to be continued. He said that considering the post flood situation of the state, the club authorities should avoid any kind of forceful Puja subscription collections.
The CM also stressed on strengthening of security in night time during Puja days and he also instructed authorities to repair all the roads damaged during recent floods before the festival.
The Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) department is not leaving any stone unturned to make it a historic event for the state’s people and all the clubs should maintain all rules and regulations, said Secretary of Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) department Dr PK Chakraborty.
He said that all major clubs of the city will participate in the immersion carnival “Mayer Goman” on October 14th and interested clubs should apply for the carnival before October 7th through online or offline.
The carnival will begin at 5 PM in the evening when one after one idol will pass through the streets. The idols from various sides of the city will join the main procession at Post Office Chowmuhani and pass through the main stage, which will be erected in front of the Agartala City Centre at Paradise Chowmuhani.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha along with some cabinet colleagues and Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder will remain present as guests.
The carnival started from 2022 but this time it is going to take a new look and this year, the inauguration of the great carnival festival will begin with spectacular cultural programmes performed by different groups of artists and after formal inauguration of the event, the immersion ceremony by different clubs and community Durga Puja organizers of the state capital will start in the city towards their destination to Dashamighat at the bank of river Howrah, said director of ICA department Bimbiswar Bhattacharjee.
Official sources over the preparation for the great immersion carnival festival of Goddess Durga, said that the ICA department has also taken measures that people from outside Agartala can witness the festival and the department will give prizes to clubs, who are participating in the “Mayer Goman” carnival. Among the participating clubs, first prize will be awarded with Rs. 50,000, second prize with Rs. 30,000 and third prize winner club will get Rs. 20,000.
