Impressive rally by Congress in city, Dibachandra Hrangkhawl joins
As expected day after resigning as BJP MLA Dibachandra Hrangkhawl on Thursday joined his old party Congress during a mass rally of the party, held in front of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.
Thousands of Congress workers from different parts of the state on Thursday gathered in the capital city and after a mass rally of the party workers , which passes various thoroughfares of the city , all Congress workers and leaders gathered in front of RS Bhavan, where top leaders of the party addressed the gathering after the joining programme.
During the joining, Dibachandra Hrangkhawl , Rajkumar Das, the brother of former BJP MLA Dilip Das and youth Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Rakesh Das also joined the party, who were welcomed by AICC in-charge for Tripura, Dr Ajoy Kumar, Pradesh Congress president Birajit Sinha, MLA Sudip Roy Barman and AICC secretary Ms. Szarita Laitphlang.
While addressing the gathering Dr Ajoy Kumar called upon the people of Tripura to come forward to oust the BJP in the next assembly elections to restore the peace and democracy.
He alleged that Tripura is one of the worst sufferers of the BJP-led government where everyday attempts are being made to divert people's attention from their burning and real issues like unemployment, price rise and communal hatred.
He also said that since the formation of the BJP government, like the central government, the state government has been spreading communal hatred and often diverting the attention of common people by instigating their religious sentiments so that the people could not raise issues like jobs, price rise and huge unemployment .
He said that Congress will leave no stone unturned to oust the ‘anti-people’ BJP government and PCC leaders like Birajit Sinha and Sudip Roy Barman will lead the Congress’s movement to protect the democratic rights of state people.
He also urged the party workers to participate in the movement against the BJP government .
Speaking in the rally, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman through his clarion calls has appealed to the people of the state to give them a chance to develop the state and to protect the rights of common people.
He said the people had given a chance to the BJP to bring prosperity in the state but they have turned it into a hub of addiction to drugs, ganja and liquor and destroyed lives of thousands of youths.
Tripura is severally reeling under crises like unemployment, drug abuse, corruption and nepotism and the unemployment rate are daily increasing , said Roy Barman and added that BJP has betrayed with the people of the state and despite assurance, they so far not resolve the reinstatement of retrenched 10, 323 teachers.
He alleged that healthcare services are deteriorating day by day and people are dying in absence of blood units and proper treatment. Roy Barman during his tenure as health minister of the state he had worked to the best of his ability for the welfare of the state's people and did not let politics influence his work.
During the rally PCC president Birajit Sinha, AICC secretary Ms. Szarita Laitphlang and former PCC president Gopal Roy also addressed the rally.
