“Khelo Tripura, Sustha Tripura” campaign, 1500 clubs to get sport accessories, Sushanta
With an aim to expand the “Khelo Tripura, Sustha Tripura” campaign to boost up the sporting activities across the state to achieve the goal of drug free Tripura, the government has initiated to give sports accessories to 1500 clubs of the state, said Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
Speaking in the annual general meeting of Tripura School Sports Board held at the conference hall ‘Shiksha Bhava’ in Agartala on Saturday, the Minister said that with implementation of the "Khelo Tripura, Sustha Tripura" campaign, the department have ensure the mass campaign against drug menaces through collective ways.
We have to motivate the youths of the state against drug menaces in all blocks, subdivisions and in all districts of the state and the department is planning to mass programme for sporting activities along with cultural programmes in Agartala to boost up the campaign,", said Chowdhury.
He added that the Finance department has approved the plan of the Sports and Youth Affairs department to give sports accessories to 1500 clubs to promote sporting activities for encouraging healthy activities.
"We want to motivate the youths through clubs against drugs and for their active participation in sporting activities," said Chowdhury and added that sport related activities will play a key role to remove the drug menaces from society.
He said that all have to ensure that the drug free slogan of the state government should not consist into a slogan; rather it should be a reality to protect the next generations.
During the meeting, the general secretary of Tripura School Sports Board Paimong Mog through PowerPoint presentation highlighted the sporting activities held across the state in the financial year 2021-22 and also presented details over sports related activities going on in the present financial year.
As per the information provided in the meeting, a total of Rs. 1.74 crore amount has been spent in the state in the last financial year and an amount of Rs. 2.52 crore will be spent for development of Sports in the present financial year.
He said that sporting activities under the "Khelo Tripura, Sustha Tripura" campaign, has been started in many parts of the state and all competitions will be ended on December next and statewide final competition will be held in February next.
During the meeting Sports and Youth Affairs department secretary Dr Pradip Kumar Chakraborty and director Subikash Debbarma and district sport authorities were also present, who highlighted the activities of their respective districts.
