Kumarghat railway station cleared from encroachment

The Kumarghat sub divisional administration (Unakoti district) on Wednesday through a massive eviction drive has cleared the encroachment of government land in all adjoining areas of Kumarghat railway station.
During the eviction drive, the authorities have cleared some illegal shops, houses and an office of a political party. Under the ‘Amrit Bharat’ scheme, the Kumarghat railway station along with 500 other stations of the country will be facelift and through modernization drive.
The government land in and around the Kumarghat railway station has been encroached and for modernization drive, the Railway authorities need more land and urged the Kumarghat administration for eviction.
As per the request of the Railway, the sub divisional administration on Wednesday conducted an eviction drive and cleared all illegal houses, shops and a CPI (M) office constructed in the government land.
Before the eviction, the authorities had also served notice to all illegal occupants and after Wednesday’s eviction drive, the cleared land had been handed over to the Railway.
