Monsoon rain disturb normal life across Tripura, landslides in few places

As intermittent Monsoon rainfall struck Tripura since Tuesday morning, all low-lying areas of Agartala flooded with rain water and disturbed normal life, but within evening the flood water started receding.

The heavy Monsoon rains also affected all districts with rainfalls and also flooded few low lying areas along with other parts of the state. Since Tuesday morning the capital city also received good rainfall and disturbed normal life.

Reports said vehicular movement on the national highway was disrupted due to heavy rainfall in Baramura and Atharamura hill ranges.

In Dharmanagar, the Maniknagar Colony area of Ward No. 1 in the Kurti Gram Panchayat under the Kadamtala-Kurti Assembly has been particularly affected. Fifty-six families residing in this area were affected by the flood, with water entering several houses, causing considerable distress and damage to properties.

In Kalyanpur, heavy rainfall on Tuesday led to a complete power cut, plunging the area into darkness for the entire day. The situation further deteriorated as the Kalyanpur Drinking Water Supply (DWS) office faced water logging issues. In the Kamalpur subdivision, heavy rainfall has led to the submersion of many vegetable fields, devastating local agriculture. Additionally, a landslide in the Saikabari area has interrupted roadways, further complicating transportation and relief efforts.

Local authorities are working to address the immediate needs of affected residents and restore essential services. However, the ongoing adverse weather conditions pose significant challenges to these efforts.
