NEP in all colleges, universities of Tripura from present academic year
Higher Secondary passed students applying for the admission in 25 degree colleges of Tripura for under-graduate courses in the present academic year will get their admission under the New Education Policy (NEP)-2020.
Addressing a press conference here at Civil Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon, the secretary of Higher Education department Sharadhindhu Chowdhury said that the admission process for 25 general degree colleges of the state begins from June 16th last and the entire admission process to continue up to July 14th next.
He said that 25 degree colleges with an intact capacity of 28,342 seats will have their admissions as per the NEP-2020 for four years degree courses with vocational education.
After completion of one year, students will get one year completion certificates, after two years certificate of diploma, after three years of completion, the students will get degree courses, said Chowdhury.
After completion of a three years course of their degree according to NEP, a student will have to score 75% or above marks by the third year to be eligible for a four-year Honours or Honours plus research degree course.
If any student migrates to any other parts of the country during their degree courses academic years, they will be given certificates, said Chowdhury and added that as per the NEP-2020, the attendance in the classes will have grade marks, which will be added for pass certificates.
He said that in the present academic years-2023-24, the NEP will be introduced in Tripura Central University, MBB University along with 25 general degree colleges of the state and all the students applying for their administration in graduation courses will get their seats in colleges as per the merit list and not student will left for admission.
The 25 degree colleges have altogether 28,342 seats and till date, the department has received 49,662 applications for degree courses and those students were unable to file their applications, they will get their admission during the ‘spot-round’ admission on July 19 next, said Chowdhury.
Speaking in the press meet the director of Higher Education department, N C Sharma said that last year altogether 26,553 students get their admissions in general degree colleges and this year, the department has increased the intake at 28, 342 as a total of 27,847 students passed their HS examinations from Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) and more 6000 (approximately) students has also passed the HS examinations from CBSE and ICSE.
Sharma said that the first merit list for admission in 25 general degree colleges will be published on June 30th next and their entire admission process will be completed by July 14th next as per the merit list.
He also assures that all the students who passed the HS examinations will get their admission in general degree colleges.
