New managing committee of Agartala press club elected
The biennial general body meeting and the election of the new managing committee of Agartala press club held on Sunday and in the evening after counting of polled votes, a new managing committee has been elected.
The biennial general body meeting started on Sunday morning at 11 AM under the chairmanship of veteran journalists Chitra Roy, Manimoy Roy, Krishnapada Karmakar and retired TCS officer and writer Subash Das. The outgoing managing committee’s secretary Pranab Sarkar presented his secretariat report over the welfare of media fraternity and development of Agartala press club.
After the launch hour, the voting to elect the new managing committee started and among the 252 club members, altogether 215 voters cast their votes.
After the counting of polled votes, Returning Officer (RO) Sandip Datta Chowdhury announced the elected committee member names. Among the new managing committee members, vice-president Sayed Sajjad Ali, secretary Ramakanta Dey and two assistant secretaries Kamal Chowdhury and Abhishek Dey elected unopposed, where by voting senior journalist Jayanta Bhattacharjee elected as president, treasurer Ranjan Roy and five executive members including Mihor Lal Sarkar, Abhishek Debbarma, Sourajit Paul, Abhijit Bhattacharjee and Manish Lodh.
