NIT Agartala convocation today

The 15th convocation of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Agartala will commence from Saturday afternoon in the Visvesvaraiya auditorium .

The 15th convocation of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Agartala will commence from Saturday afternoon in the Visvesvaraiya auditorium . On this occasion Padma Shri Dr Deepak B. Pathak , former professor of computer science and engineering in IIT, Mumbai will act as the chief guest . Er Amit Bhattacharjee , managing director Accenture Technology , Bengaluru will grace the occasion as Guest of Honour while Professor Harish Kumar Sharma, Chairperson , Board of Governors and Director NIT Agartala will preside over the function and award the degrees.

At present around 4800 students are studying at NIT, Agartala, There are 9 branches at B-Tech level , 23 specialisations in engineering at masters level and 4 branches at dual degree level. The institute also offers MBA programmes, MCA programme, Msc programmes and doctoral programmes. At the moment 305 research scholars are pursuing their Phd in various fields.

A statement issued by the NIT authority said the NIT Agartala’s performance level is at par with the best institutes in the country. In the year 2022-2023 NIT Agartala has already published 285 research papers in prestigious journals that are indexed. A number of international conferences and workshops have already been organized by NIT, Agartala in the current year. Even in the matter patenting NIT Agartala has achieved a lot as ten patents have been filed , nine already granted and 15 patents have been published. Besides, NIT Agartala has also introduced a Teacher Education programme as per NCTE guideline from the current year.

Apart from all this, NIT Agartala has been regularly introducing new courses of study including computational mathematics, new M-Tech courses in mechanical engineering and artificial intelligence. The syllabus of all subjects taught is being regularly updated and modernized in keeping with the progress being made. Renowned academician Padma Shri Dr Deepak B Phatak, former Professor, Dept. of CSE, IIT Bombay and former Chairman, NIT Agartala is scheduled to grace the event as chief guest and Er Amit Bhattacherjee, Managing Director, Accenture Technology, Bangalore will remain present as the Guest of Honour said Prof Debasish Bhattacherjee, Registrar in-charge of the premier engineering institute of the state.

It may be recalled here that the 14th Convocation was held on November 13th, last year and Padma Bibhushan and former Union Minister Prof Murli Manohar Joshi was the chief guest of the annual mega event .
