No voter to be left behind, awareness-based bicycle rally held in Agartala
A bicycle rally ‘Pedal for Participative Elections’ with the theme ‘No Voter To Be Left Behind’ was held in Agartala on Wednesday with the initiative of the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura.
Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, CEO, Tripura Kiran Gitte, West Tripura District Magistrate (DM) Debapriya Bardhan and other officials were present at the event. The rally started from Umakanta Academy Ground and moved around the city and ended back at Umakanta Academy Ground. Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha said, in order to participate in the election festival, it is necessary to enroll in the voter list. He urged everyone to spread this message to the young generation.
CEO Kiran Gitte said, the draft electoral roll of Tripura’s 60 constituencies has been published, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI) including the names of those who have turned 18 as on January 1, 2023. The commission aims that no voter should be left behind. This awareness rally is to generate awareness among the voters. He said, from today onwards, correction of names and transferring of voter lists shall be done on booth level at SDM office. He also said, those who are above 18 years of age as on April 1, July 1 and October 1 in 2023 may apply in advance for getting enrolled in the voter list. The participants were later handed over certificates at the end of the rally by the Election Commission.
