Paushali Roy appointed as first lady IFS officer from Tripura
Smt Paushali Roy has been appointed in Indian Forest Services (IFS) vide GoI Notification issued by the Under Secretary of Ministry of the Environment and Forests and Climate Change issued on 5th December 2023. Besides her, 7 more Officers including her husband Abhijit De have also been appointed at the same time.
She is the first lady from Tripura to be appointed in IFS as of now. Presently Smt Roy is posted as Director of Tripura Forest Training Academy, Gandhigram. She belongs to Agartala city and her parents Shri Prabir Roy and Smt Prativa Choudhury both are retired Govt officials. She did her schooling from Shishu Bihar School of Agartala and pursued her Masters in Forestry Science from NERIST, Itanagar with Gold Medal in the year 2009.
She joined Tripura Forest Services in the same year and since then she has served with dignity and pride in various capacities throughout the State. During her posting as Sub-Divisional Forest Officer, Bishalgarh way back in 2015, she has taken tremendous effort in curbing illegal wood sawing business and sand mining in and around Bishalgarh area. She was a terror for the illegal miscreants and sand miners during that time. She is a very versatile and dynamic kind of officer and is renowned in the Forest Dept. She has broken all taboos and set an example for the young generation for coming forward in such challenging services.
