PM Surya Ghar: 12,800 solar plants installed across Tripura: Power Minister

‘Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana' will help in saving electricity and increasing one’s family income, Stated by Power Minister Ratan lal Nath while inaugurating the registration camp of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana at Ranirga on School premises in Jirania subdivision yesterday. He urged everyone to take advantage of this scheme and said that the main objective of this scheme is to enable residential families to generate their own electricity using the roof of the house. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this scheme on 13th February 2024 for the benefit of every electricity consumer in the country.
Government subsidy is being provided for setting up this plant. A subsidy of up to Rs 85,800 will be given for three-kilowatt solar plants. In addition, a subsidy of Rs.33, 000 will be provided to residential electricity consumers for spending Rs.65, 000 for a 1 KW solar plant. A subsidy of Rs.66, 000 will be provided for an expenditure of Rs.1.30 lakh for 2 KW.
Power Minister said about 100 units of electricity is produced every month from the 1KW Solar plant. Apart from saving electricity for home, one can also increase his income by selling extra electricity. He said that the plant can be installed on the roof of the house, yard, Tin shade anywhere.
The term of a plant is about 25 years. Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that along with the entire country, camps are being held in different parts of the state to encourage the people of our state to take advantage of this scheme. He said a target has been set to install 50,000 solar plants in the state in the current fiscal year. The installation of 12,800 solar plants has already been completed. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury was also present on this program. West Tripura Zilla Parishad Saho-Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil, Chairperson of Jirania Nagar Panchayat Ratan Kumar Das, Jirania Panchayat Samiti Chairman Pritam Debnath and Social worker Gauranga Bhowmik were also present on this program. Power Minister also interacted with Sadhan Baidya, the first beneficiary of the scheme in Tripura, about the benefits of setting up the solar plant and also visited the stalls of the registration camp.
