Power Minister makes surprise visit to Banamalipur electric subdivision, caught irregularities
Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath in a surprise visit to the Banamalipur electric subdivision at Agartala has caught red handed large-scale irregularities and alleged stolen of equipment and machineries of the Power department.
Recently, Power Minister Nath had visited the same power subdivision and had noticed many irregularities and had also asked the authorities to clear all garbage stored at the complex of Banamalipur power station.
On Friday, based on secret information, Nath all of sudden arrived at the spot and noticed that a contractor engaged with the Power department works has removed some machineries and other equipment from the subdivision complex without any notice or intimation to the department.
Nath, immediately stopped the loading and asked all the top authorities including the Managing Director of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) Debasis Sarkar to check and verify the stock of all materials and the contractor should allow to take his material after proper requisition with verification ownership claims of his materials.
Taking the departmental engineer and other staff, Nath called a meeting with them to his office in the evening to stop such irregularities going in the department.
Upon queries to the engineers and staff, Nath came to know that there is not even a properly maintained register for entry and exit of goods of the department. He queried the staff about this but they failed to give a proper reply. Expressing serious resentment over the issue Ratan Lal Nath reprimanded the engineers, technical and non-technical staff and warned them sternly against keeping things and letting them go without any record.
Later, speaking with media persons, Nath said that no contractor would be allowed to keep their accessories or the equipment in the department’s complex and if they have their machinery from any subdivision have to maintain proper guidelines. He also assured that such irregularities will not take place further and if such things are noticed again, then the department will take stringent action against errant persons.
