Preventive health check-up & felicitation of Safai Mitras in Agartala

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a Preventive Health Check-up and Felicitation programme for Safai Karmacharis of various institutes across Agartala was organized by NEEPCO, Agartala, in collaboration with the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation. The event was held at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel, Agartala.
The programme began with a free medical check-up for all participating sanitation workers, conducted by medical professionals to ensure their health and well-being. Following the health camp, a total of 51 Safai Karmacharis were felicitated by officials of NEEPCO, who acknowledged their dedication to keeping the city clean.
Gopesh Debnath, Bicycle Mayor of Agartala and representative of the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation, said that the felicitation on Gandhi Jayanti carried special meaning, as it upheld the ideals of service, cleanliness, and dignity of labour that Mahatma Gandhi always stood for. He added that the initiative was a small step to honour the frontline workers whose tireless efforts often go unnoticed, and to remind society of its responsibility towards their welfare.
The organisers expressed hope that such programmes will inspire greater respect for Safai Mitras and help create broader awareness about their invaluable contribution to community life. The event concluded with a call for continued efforts to ensure health security and social recognition for sanitation workers, the unsung heroes of urban life.
