There are no good tidings of pleasantness during the four days of Durga Puja festivities this time as the rain God stands in the way and is likely to act as spoilsport.

According to latest bulletin of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Agartala station, all four days of Durga Puja will have light to moderate rainfalls at intervals and Weather department has issued “Yellow” warnings for all eight districts of the state from September 29 to October 2nd (Day of Maha Dashami).

While, giving details of the weather prediction, India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Agartala station director Dr Partha Roy said that Monsoon still active in Tripura and other parts of the Northeast region till its withdrawal on October 15 next, so rain and thunderstorm will continue in the region till November next.

“An upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to emerge into north Andaman Sea on September 30th and under its influence a low-pressure area is likely to form over north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal around October 1st, 2025,” said Dr Partha Roy.

As per the warning issued by the IMD, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Tripura on September 29 (Day of Maha Saptami) with ‘Yellow’ warning.

Similarly, IMD issued ‘Yellow’ warnings for September 30 (Maha Ashtami), October 1st (Maha Navami) and for October 2nd (Maha Dashami) with prediction of heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) in most of the districts of the state.

Dr Roy said as per present weather conditions maximum rainfall can occur on October 1st and 2nd, comparatively on the day of ‘Maha Dashami’, the state can witness maximum rainfall.

Meanwhile, after October 2nd, the state can witness light to moderate rain with thunderstorms on October 3rd and 4th at many places across all districts of the state.

The rain and thunder storm due to low-pressure has been the main reason for rain across the state in the next few days, which will affect the normal life across Tripura with commencement of the festivities of Durga Puja.

India Meteorological department (IMD) said as per the current meteorological features, IMD are also expecting some light or moderate rain to continue after Puja and they are monitoring the situation daily and predicted heavy rainfall during the last two days of Durga Puja.

The ongoing intermittent rainfall in the last two days, has directly affect the puja preparations and community puja organizers are facing several hardship to complete their finishing touches before ‘Maha Saptami’.
