Rare ASD operation successfully conducted by Cardiology dept of GB Hospital
An Interventional closure of Atrial septal defect (ASD) operation has been successfully performed for the first time in AGMC and GBP hospital, in which the patient didn't require any open heart surgery.
Official sources said that a 54 years old female, resident of Pratapgarh area of Agartala was suffering from a hole in between two upper chambers of heart since birth. It was causing blood to leak abnormally and causing her heart failure. ASD was closed by trans catheter method without any need for open heart surgery. The procedure completed successfully and the patient was discharged the next day on December 2nd from the Department of Cardiology.
This rare operation is performed by a team of doctors led by Dr Anindya Sundar Trivedi (Consultant Cardiologist and in-charge head of the department of Cardiology , Dr Rakesh Das ( Consultant Cardiologist, Dept of Cardiology ), Dr Surajit Pal ( Anaesthesiologist), Dr Monimoy Debbarma (Cardiac Anaesthesiologist) and junior doctors from Cardiology department including Dr Argha Pratim Nath, Dr Anurupa Bose, Dr Samrat Das, Dr Prasenjit Nandi, Dr Asmin Chakma, Sanjay Ghosh ( cath lab technician) Debabrata Debnath(Cathlab Nurse), Prankrishna Deb( cath lab nurse), Kishan Roy ( Echo technician), Abhishek Datta, Jemson Debbarma, Richashri Sarkar ( Coordinators), Sourabh Shil , Joydeep Chakraborty,Jayanta Shil and Ratan Mondol (OT assistants).
