Reckless driving: Two minor boys killed in motorbike accident
In a tragic road mishap, two minor boys were killed, when their speeding motorbike crushed with an unknown vehicle at the wee hours of Monday on the concluding of day weeklong Kharchi festival, which witnessed huge crowd and heavy vehicular movements at the national highway-8.
Sources said that as the concluding day of weeklong Kharchi festival witnessed massive crowd after stopping of incessant rain and huge vehicular movements at National Highway-8 from Sunday afternoon to early hours of Monday and devotees have also witnessed reckless driving by a section of unruly youths.
In the wee hours of Monday two youths identified as Shaquib Miah (17) and his pillion rider Masuq Miah (16) after the fair were returning to their respective houses at Indranagar area under East Agartala police station. When their motorbike reached the Resham Bagan area of national highway near Chandrapur ISBT, their speeding bike collided face on with an unknown vehicle from the opposite direction.
Hearing a massive sound of crush, local people rushed to the spot and informed firefighters and police. They immediately arrived at the spot and found, rider of the bike Shaquib Miah died on the spot and his pillion rider Masuq Miah suffered critical injuries, who was shifted to GB Hospital.
During treatment on Monday morning pillion rider Masuq succumbed to death due to his critical injuries.
Police said that after the autopsy, both the bodies of Shaquib and Masuq were handed over to their relatives for last rites and they started an investigation to identify the killer vehicle.
Police also said that preliminary investigation revealed that both youths died from reckless driving and riding bikes at heavy speed without helmets.
