Rotten and unhygienic food served in Tripura University canteen, ABVP staged protest

Tripura Central University students affiliated with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in a deputation before the Registrar of the university staged a strong protest over unhygienic food served at the varsity canteen and demanded strict action against vendor, responsible for serving rotten foods.
ABVP through a memorandum before the Registrar expressing their deep concern said that on September 23rd, a student of IMD, 7th semester (Ms Bhumika) consumed her lunch from the canteen , located at the 11-number building in the university campus.
“Shockingly, after finishing her meal, she discovered insects inside the food served to her,” said ABVP through a statement and added that this incident is not only disturbing but also raises serious questions regarding the standards of hygiene, food safety and monitoring of the vendors operating within the university campus.
They alleged that such negligence directly endangers the health of students, staff and visitors and it undermines the reputation of the University As a central institution of higher learning.
“It is unacceptable that a university campus, where thousands of students rely daily on the canteen facilities, such basic standards of hygiene and food quality are grossly violated," said ABVP president Debatirtha Debnath and demanded strict direction to the concerned vendor to ensure compliance with health and hygiene regulation without delay.
They also demanded before the authorities of the university to issue strict warnings against the accused vendor for serving rotten and unhygienic foods to the students and if they repeated again, the university should withdraw the vendor’s tender or the contract immediately.
